The use of geosynthetics in mining is different from the use of geosynthetics in landfills and other civil engineering applications. The mining projects that involve the use of geosynthetics are orders of magnitude larger than any other category of projects. Preventing the entry of melt materials, which are also toxic and causing groundwater pollution, have been a concern that has recently been taken into consideration by environmentalists. Consequently, by using a variety of polyethylene (HDPE) or GCL geomembranes, this problem can be solved or at least minimized in extremely high speed.
